Speaker Application

Thank you for expressing and interest in being a speaker for the Early Childhood Neurodiversity Affirming Online Summit. This summit is for those exploring progressive, neurodiversity-affirming alternatives in early childhood.

About the Summit
This summit is for those exploring neurodiversity-affirming, anti-deficit and progressive alternatives in early childhood. It is not centred on compliance-led approaches, navigating the SEND system as the end goal, or repackaged inclusion that leaves dominant norms unchallenged. We are particularly interested in contributions that move beyond neurodiversity-lite narratives and instead meaningfully rethink practice, pedagogy, environment, communication, play and participation

Speaker approach
Speakers will be selected on the basis of alignment with the values and aims of the summit. We are looking for contributors whose work demonstrates a genuine commitment to non-pathologising, strengths-led and justice-informed practice. Not all expressions of interest will be taken forward, and selection will be based on fit with the direction of the event. Speaker

Positionality and Principles

  • Rooted in a neurodiversity-affirming, non-pathologising perspective or an equivalent commitment to equity and social justice
  • Centres strengths, agency and belonging rather than deficit or compliance
  • Draws on lived experience, real practice, pedagogy or critical scholarship
  • Engages meaningfully with inclusion not just as rebranded SEND provision
  • Offers something thoughtful, justice-oriented and grounded in practice

Aims

To recognise the early childhood sector in the neurodiversity movement

To advance neurodiversity-informed pedaogy in early childhood education

To offer accessible CPD for those working with children 0-8 years

Payment

Reflecting on equity across our speaker community. In line with the values of the summit, a flat honorarium of £300 for all speakers. I wanted to be transparent about this shift and I'm happy to chat if you have any questions or to adapt sessions to ensure expertise feels valued.

Representation

We are particularly keen for this summit to be intersectional and to reflect a wide range of lived experiences, identities and ways of knowing. We recognise that spaces like this have not always felt accessible or safe for everyone, and we warmly encourage applications from Black and racialised speakers, disabled and neurodivergent speakers, LGBTQ+ contributors, and those whose expertise comes from practice and lived experience rather than formal academic routes. If you are unsure whether this space is for you, please feel free to reach out for a discussion.

Deadline: Speaker requests need to be submitted by Friday 24th April 2026
